If it’s chauvinism that women footballers get paid less for playing at the World Cup...
Is it discrimination that I don’t get paid to play even though I’m shit?

I've always thought that the best thing about the women's game is that it's not flooded by $$$$$ and all the shit that entails.

The case was dismissed because the women were paid more cumulatively and on a per game basis over the period in question.
No?

The USA team is the one example where women should be paid more than their men.
Am guessing they generate more income.
Which should be the test.

"US Women's equal pay claim dismissed by judge"

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52513218

The case was deemed so weak that it didn't even go to trial.

As it happens there are some good women jockeys about competing on equal terms.

Re: If it’s chauvinism that women footballers get paid less for playing at the World Cup...

It's all about revenues, that simple.

Whitney Houston, Madonna, Beyonce all make as much as men do when they sell out a stadium or Arena. They get paid a percentage of the purse.

The question is how much revenue is made at a womens world cup versus the mens world cup and how much of that revenue goes to the women players compared to the men players. If the Men get a much higher percentage then there should be a stewards to find out why. If they get paid a higher percentage then we'll just keep quiet and let them have their win.

Problem is, I can see some cunts gonna want to give some of the TV revenues from the mens game to promote the womans game in the name of chauvenism,
wouldn't be surprised to learn that its already happening........

There have been female F1 drivers I think. they compete equally. But motorsport isn't about physicality.

Instead of playing “spot the ball” you could play “put the nipple on the Titty” for additional revenue!

If they get to the final then they have to wear G-strings.
Semi finals must be played in sexy Lingerie.

Fuck me the possibilities are endless.

Well I must say that female beach volleyball players deserve to be paid more than the men!

I think they should all have to play in bikinis.
Which would create more interest and bring in more revenue. Problem solved!

The only sport where they compete against each other are the equestrian events. I would have thought they could compete in motor racing on equal terms but I'm no F1 expert. Snooker and darts but I don't classify them as sports!

Only 13k for an England v Scotland world cup game just across the Channel in France.
End of argument!

When a woman footballer can smash the ball in to the top corner from further out than 10 meters I'll give it another go

They're so bad its ridiculous.

If they can get paid the same as the men then I'll go transgender for a few years, make my dough and buy an island.

Re: If it’s chauvinism that women footballers get paid less for playing at the World Cup...
It's all nonsense and in this PC world it seems we are almost being "forced" into buying into it. Apart from a few very good stand out players like Lucy Bronze the standard of play is being over-hyped. The standard in the U15's Schoolboy Internationals they used to televise was better.

Re: If it’s chauvinism that women footballers get paid less for playing at the World Cup...
Men's football can be termed "Open" - i.e. any human can compete if they're good enough. So, effectively, women's football is a handicapped section of all football - so why should they be paid the same? if they were good enough to play in the "open" games (i.e. men's football) then they'd be paid appropriately to THAT market place. the same applies t tennis etc. Women are given a separate section in most sports (where men may not compete) because if they weren't, no women could ever compete in those sports. men are naturally at an advantage in many sports where strength and size are advantages. Which is why I cannot see why women are given separate sections for those sports where men are NOT at a physical advantage - e.g. marksmanship etc..

Yes Vexed, INDOOR cricket.

Speaking of indoor cricket, I've just selected my under 18 girls side for the Junior Provincials. Gun side. Should be able to defend their national title.

Not coaching any other sides this year. Focus is on building the depth in the Juniors so we can fill the current gap between under 18 and the senior sides.

The sport is really growing for girls in my region, its great to see. Taken a lot of hard work by a lot of people to make that happen though.

6.4m viewers for free to air World Cup football on a Sunday afternoon is rubbish.
Eurovision & the antiques roadshow get similar.

I’d be more focused on the thousands of empty seats at the games.

That’s all very well Russ but Hope Solo graduated from the American college system where they don’t teach logic, but have replaced it with intersectionality instead. None of what you’ve written would be deemed relevant to her point.

If it’s chauvinism that women footballers get paid less for playing at the World Cup...
Without being disrespectful Hope Solo should count her lucky stars they get paid at all.

For one, the general level of skill is approximate to that of an average 11 year old boy. Yes, there are some stand out players but they are few and far between. Others are average at best and most are just pretty shit. And that is the truth. It's harsh but true.

Secondly, surely she understands market forces? Last night, 13,000 for a world cup game. Just shows you the lack of interest for the live experience because what is on show is not that good.

We all love the game. And one of the reasons why we go and watch men's football is because you see the game being taken to the next level and their is a chance you will see something that literally blows your mind. I am sorry, but why would people go to women's football in the numbers to make 60k and 70k attendances when it's akin to watching an under 14's game on a Sunday. Again, it's harsh but its true.

6.4m viewers on the telly is great. But those people are just getting in the spirit of it and joining in but hardly any of those people would watch it live.

Nothing against women, nothing against women's football. But you have to be realistic and sensible. The standard is poor to average generally and that is why they don't get paid the same.

As another poster said, when you start getting 70,000 at major games and huge TV audiences then come back and speak up but until then I don't think Hope Solo has an argument.
